Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add.
My name is Jonahira Cordero. I am a 26 years young Puerto Rican model from the Houston/Galveston, Texas area. I am fully bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English. My hobbies include dance, traveling, exercising, learning, and creating memories with those I love.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
Dance is what led me to modeling. From there, it sparked into a hidden passion of mine. I have experience in various styles of print work. I have done promotional video work. Recently, I have begun modeling in fashion shows. I love it all and learning more about my craft.
What is your biggest dream?
Craft wise my biggest dream is to model internationally. The ultimate dream is creating a life that I lived mindfully and happily in.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
Being a kind soul and human. Allowing yourself to be unapologetically you and owning your divinity.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion like my favorite color is dependent on how I am feeling and/or occasion. I love for my fashion style to be switched around. My two main styles of fashion bounce back and forth between edgy and romantic. Simple and clean with hints of edge/color.
Who or what inspires you?
My family inspires me. They ensure that I continue to push myself into becoming the best version of myself.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
No’s and failures are chances for you to grow. Take them! Starting from the bottom is starting somewhere. Dive into your craft and shoot your shot on yourself, ALWAYS!
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
An obstacle that I have had to overcome was moving to LA and putting myself out there like I promised myself I would. Learning how the industry worked from the bottom and little to no connections. Finding and getting feedback so that you can grow within your craft is difficult. At one point, I no longer had a place to live and figured things out from one day to the next. Stuff getting stolen, car breaking down (more than once), and finding jobs. At another point, my finances and relationship are at an all-time low. All of this happening back-to-back was not easily mentally and emotionally.
This changed me into becoming even more resilient and creative. Looking back, I would not give up any of my past experiences. I evolved and grew from each moment. I learned to let go of my pride and not be afraid to start over no matter how many times it takes. I refuse to give up on myself and will keep it pushing.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
My compassion towards others. I love getting to know people and interacting with them in a positive manner. Sometimes all people need is a soundboard and a hug.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
If the person reading this is struggling with their confidence, allow me to tell you that you are MAGIC. You hold all the power. No one can be you which is what makes you beautiful. That makes you deserving. That makes you whole. That makes you and your temple DIVINE. You may not see it or feel it but you are. Try to see yourself the way the person that loves you most sees you.
