Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add).

My name is Daijha Smith I’m from Chicago,IL and I’m 20 years old. During high school my whole career was based around sports because I was very athletic. But one day it hit me that I’m also talented in so many other areas. That’s when I had my parents reach out to agency’s and casting directors for roles and also commercials. In 2017 I had the opportunity to be a extra on the hit TV show “Empire” and currently working on “Chicago Fire” in October. Now that I am independent. I scheduled most of my photoshoots with photographers and even group photoshoots.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

My modeling experience has been amazing ever since I started. Many people would tell me I have a face behind the camera and I don’t know, I think it’s the Leo in me lol. In high school I would participate in modeling shows and also join in with photographers in our high school, some would even have their own clothing line I would model. Soon more local people would notice me and wanted me to be apart of many projects they were creating.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be seen on a famous cover magazine, it doesn’t matter which one. I just want to be able to be seen and show the world and people who doubted me that I can accomplish anything with or without them. Since I do acting as well, I plan to go as far as it takes me! Willing to make everyone proud!

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

What this means to me is to simply be yourself. Show the world who you are without being afraid of being judge. I say express who you are regardless if people think it’s weird. I personally don’t care about people’s opinions on my life! Everyday I wake up and I accomplish everything I’ve been Blessed with! Being beautiful is all about how you feel and how confident you are!

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion is basically eye catching. Everything I wear has a pop to everything. I fall to street fashion, classy & even high fashion! Whatever I wear I make look good!

Who or what inspires you?

Every black woman inspires me. From women in the modeling industry to acting. They give me strength to know I can be in their position one day! Also the Late great Chadwick Boseman. To know how strong he was to fight a battle we knew nothing about but wanted to fulfill his dreams and make the world happy, that is what I want to accomplish one day!

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Don’t be afraid to show that camera what you got! Give them every pose and every look, serve every face and every angle! Be you at all times! Bring out all the confidence you can because sometimes you do get nervous and that’s when you step outside of you’re comfort zone and show that photographer and those artists that you were meant for this job, this industry!

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

Everything I went through shipped me into who I am. Chadwick Boseman once said “Your very existence is wrapped up in the things you need to fulfill. Whatever you choose for a career path, remember the struggles along the way are only meant to shape you for your purpose”. I carry that with me everyday. All the failures I received from job interviews to not hearing back from certain agencies just made me stronger and made me more confident. Knowing that because one agency lost out on talent and other agency gained one! Never lose faith in your journey because God will bless you in the end.

What makes you beautiful/ handsome?

My confidence. The way I carry myself & how proud I am to be me is what makes me beautiful. I noticed one thing a about me is I’m loud even when I’m quite. I’m noticed even when I don’t speak! That is what makes me beautiful. It’s not always about what’s on the outside but what’s on the inside. I always practice having a pure heat and a peaceful mind!

What would you say to another guy/ girl your age who is struggling with their confidence?

My advice to young adults my age is never stop being you! Never stop learning and never stop taking risks! Everything you do will lead you to a position or someone will recognize you for you’re greater purpose. If you see something you want to do, do it!
