Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

My name is Katie M. I am 18 years old and I’m from Sydney Australia Central Coast. From the age of 2 I had open heart surgery due to having 4 holes inside my heart, the condition is called Artiral Septal Defect or ASD for short. I have a scar that runs down my chest.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be able to show young girls who are struggling with insecurities whether that’s weight, height, looks or scars. I want to be able to show people that they can still reach their dreams and goals whether they have battle scars or not.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

To be my own kind of beautiful is to show off my curvy physique to everyone to show them that I’m not afraid to be who I am and that I don’t have to be the “stereotypical” tall, skinny girl that everyone says we should be.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

From a young age I did modeling for a while after heart surgery but I stopped due to wanting to finish school and get it out of the way, after school had finished I modeled for online brand companies on Instagram for different swimwear companies.

What is your dream brand to model for?

My dream brand to model for would be either Gucci or Prada.

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style is very street wear relaxed beach but also tomboy style.

How important is self-awareness and confidence to you in your everyday life?

It is very important to me because you see everyone whether they are a boy or a girl who struggle every day with their bodies, acne, looks and body shapes which often turns into them being bullied or bringing themselves down which is not what should be happening, instead we should feel confident and look confident in what we were given.

What makes you beautiful?

What makes me beautiful is my scar down my chest  because it shows other people my story and what I have done to pursue my dream of being a model.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

I would say be confident in anything you do, we all have a life to live and we all need to make it count so just do what you want to do and be a bad ass and have fun.
