Jazmine A.

Tell us about yourself.

Hi! My name is Jazmine Alycia and I am 13 years old. I go by my stage name of Jazmine Alycia. I am from central Virginia, in a small rural town. I love cheerleading and have been a sideline cheerleader for many years. I love to sing, act, dance and draw for my hobbies. I also love to cook and bake. I am an autism sibling (meaning I have a little brother with autism) and have started a not-for-profit organization that helps other special needs siblings like me. I am the youngest of 4 girls but one younger brother.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be on commercials and in top magazines and to walk into a store like Ulta or Target or a Salon and see myself on a sign or billboard.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Oh my goodness, this question is all about me! I have loved that quote ever since I was little. My mom even put it on my bedroom mirror. I think it means to be yourself, embrace yourself and have your own sense of style.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I started modeling a year ago (in 2018) when my mom began taking photos of me and my little brother for her business. People kept telling her that I needed to get into modeling even if it was just to help with costs for college. So I began training and studying poses, what to put in my model bag, what to do and take to casting calls and how to walk the runway. Thanks to ELM MIT and Vireo Suites for their training, I was able to learn a lot. I am always studying new poses daily and I love to plan and style my own shoots. I have had a chance to shoot with a wide variety of photographers, each with their own style which helps me know more about what works and what doesn’t work for me as a model to bring out the best on screen and in photos. I love being in front of the camera, it both calms and excites me. When I am in school, being able to do photoshoots on the weekends or once during the week after school is what I consider my break.

I have been featured in British Vanity Fair's Ad section for NanaLola Couture, All Eyes Magazine, Wild Child Magazine, and have walked in numerous fashion shows as well as being a livemannequin for a grand opening for a shoe store -Shoe Sanity in Virginia Beach.

What is your dream brand to model for?

I’d love to model for Fenty Beauty, Cantu Beauty, Nike, Adidas, Forever 21, H&M. Any markup or hair care brand would be amazing too.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I call my fashion style “Tomboy-Chic” I love flannels and jeans but I also love heels and jewelry. I have a way of taking on almost any style and making it my own. I also have been told that I have a unique look and can go for a number of ethnicities and ages.

How important is self-awareness and confidence to you in your everyday life?

WOW!  Self-awareness and confidence is absolutely important in my everyday life. Kids my age can be harsh! So knowing who I am and what I want to do with life helps a lot! But also my mom has always made it a point to make sure I know that I can do whatever I put my mind to and that it’s ok to make mistakes as long as I tried my best. I advocate for others who I see struggling or being bullied. I stand against bullies no matter what!

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

Ummm, what makes me beautiful, I think is 1) my freckles (it’s taken me a while to get comfortable with them) and 2) my natural curly hair. I get lots of compliments on it but more than that, it is just me! I love them both!

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

I would compliment them on something to help them gain more confidence. If they were struggling with posing or runway I would complement them on something and offer my help.
