Alex D.
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Alex, and I’m 16 years old. I’m an only child. I was born and raised in Antioch, California. Antioch is a small town in Northern California. Growing up in a small town has its benefits, but I have big dreams of getting out one day!!!
What is your biggest dream?
My big dream has always been to become a model, big as in Kendall Jenner big. I realize making it in the modeling industry is a lot of work, and that’s why I admire models such as Kendall Jenner. She had doors shut in her face, but she never gave up. She’s a great role model for girls like me, and I strive to be that one day; a great role model.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
To be your own kind of beautiful, I believe, is to march to your own drum, to not be afraid to do what’s best for you and not what others think you should do. I think if you stay humble and kind, you can never go wrong. Beauty fades but a good heart always shines bright.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I haven’t had a lot of modeling experience, but I love being in front of the camera. I feel like a different person. It gives me the feeling of letting what’s within shine.
What is your dream brand to model for?
I don’t really have a dream brand to model for, but I love Victoria’s Secret and I think that it would be awesome to one day rock that runway.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I would describe my fashion as simplistic yet classy with a touch of Boho chic!
How important is self-awareness and confidence to you in your everyday life?
Self-awareness and confidence is VERY important to me. All of my life I have been on the “skinny” side. It’s just in my genes. I grew up with people making fun of me, calling me names like “anorexic” or “giraffe” because I’m thin in stature. It used to hurt my feelings, but over the years I’ve learned to use that to my advantage and allow it to fuel my fire in achieving my goals and dreams. I’ve developed thick-skin because of it and kept my eye on the prize.
What makes you beautiful?
What I think makes me beautiful is my heart. I’m a deeply-caring person and I wear my emotions on my sleeve. People always want to talk to me about personal things because they know they can trust me. Having a beautiful and caring heart shines outwardly from within, and I think that is what makes me beautiful.
