Tell us about yourself?
My name is Michelle P. I am 18 years old. I was born in Cali, Colombia and moved to the United States at age eight which gave me the ability to master two languages. I enjoy creating all forms of art from canvas work to modeling. I pride myself on being open to trying new things and being very adventurous in life. I am most happiest when I am traveling and making connections with new people, although I haven’t been able to travel to all my desired locations I look forward to experiencing them soon!
What is your biggest dream?
Growing up my sister would always record and take pictures of our lives and eventually, I developed a passion for being in front f the camera. This led me to fantasize about becoming a model. However, besides my career ambitions, my biggest dream always includes living comfortably while doing what I love and eventually being able to repay my mother for everything she has done for me.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
Although physical features are the first things to come to mind when regarding beauty and contribute to an aesthetic, beauty lies within every person. Being your own kind of beautiful is being unique and not being ashamed of who you really are, embracing your differences and not faking who you are to become like everyone else.
Tell us about your modeling experience?
I was first introduced into modeling in 2017 through the agency John Casablancas where we did training to improve skills and strategies for photoshoots and runways and occasionally dabbled in tv work. Although I was grateful to have an opportunity like JC which showed me the ropes of modeling, I had to take time off to focus on solely on my school and job. However, during this time I did not rest and focused my talent on freelance modeling for the past year I’ve been working with local photographers to be able to gain more experience and different styles of modeling.
What is your dream brand to model for?
My dream brand to model for is Ralph Lauren.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Overall I aim to be comfortable. However, this normally comes off as a streetwear look. I own a lot of casual items that can translate to Californian surf or skate culture and my closet consist of sportswear and Japanese street fashion.
How important is self-awareness and confidence to you in your everyday life?
Apart from needing confidence and self-awareness to be successful and appear desirable in the modeling world. It’s also important in everyday life because confidence and self-awareness can impact people’s perception of you. Not only that, but it can affect how you can view and treat others. To be self-aware is to feel confident in yourself and who you are which leaves a good impression on people.
What makes you beautiful?
Although there’s nothing wrong with priding yourself with how you look, I particularly think what makes me beautiful is my aesthetic, the way I treat others and my carefree attitude. Which, in a sense is what makes me view life as beautiful itself.
What would you say to another girl/ guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
What I would tell someone struggling with their confidence is that there’s always going to be someone who won’t appreciate you like another will, you can’t change their opinion about the way they see you. It’s okay to feel insecure however progressing from that, dwelling on imperfections only holds you back from reaching your highest potential.
