Margaret B.
Tell us about yourself.
I am from Longmeadow, Massachusetts! I have a house on Cape Cod, where I spend summer and holidays. I am also a junior at High Point University, in North Carolina.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be a VIP stylist in NYC.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
I believe this means to just be confident and not let what everyone else thinks is normal control you.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
When I was in high school, my photographer friends used to use me for their art projects, websites and social media profiles. That is when I figured how much fun I was having getting my picture taken. After continuing to do things of that sort, I began modeling for a store I worked for during Summer 2018 and I fell in love with modeling clothes rather than just art. During my time at High Point University, I worked with a professional photographer and student, Jennifer Lindgens, who helped me get build my portfolio, preparing me to apply to Hannah Noelle! She gave me studio experience, as opposed to what I was used to, natural lighting and outdoors shoots.
What is your dream brand to model for?
My dream brand to model for is Alexander Wang. His edgy style and use of leather with metal makes aligns his brand with my own personal style.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My style is really however I feel, but typically casual and edgy. On a typical day, I will be wearing mostly black with some big chunky shoes, a lot of my inspiration coming from Hailey Baldwin. I do still enjoy dressing up elegantly for events and dinners, bringing me back to my girly-girl high school style.
How important is self-awareness and confidence to you in your everyday life?
I find these things very important. I have to feel confident in myself in order to find the motivation to work towards my goals. I think knowing where you stand in life is crucial in determining what you need to do to move forward.
What makes you beautiful?
I think my confidence is something that people notice. Not only just owning how I look but, being able to talk to everyone and make people laugh.
What would you say to another girl your age who is struggling with their confidence?
I would explain to them that the things they struggle with make them who they are and to own them. I’ve struggled with certain things myself, and once I learned to accept that I can’t change these things, I came out of a shell and stopped letting insecurities run my life. Just as an example, I have always had red and bumpy skin on my arms and while I was growing up I wore long sleeves and even a jacket during the warmer months to hide it. Eventually, I just started to realize that the only one who really cared was myself, and if I stopped caring then nobody would.
